Publishing and versions

A project has one draft that you edit and any number of published versions.

The draft

Only you, the owner, can see the draft. Every edit to its files and write-up saves on its own as you type. No history of individual edits is kept: the draft is the latest state of your work. Once a project has a default version, the header in edit mode shows You have unpublished changes while the draft has unpublished edits.

Publish a version

Click Publish in the header. The Publish version form asks for:

• a Version name, such as v1.0 or v1.1;
• optional Release notes;
• a Visibility: public and the new default version, public while keeping the current default, or private, which only you can see.

Publishing copies the draft into a new version. That version never changes afterwards, so edits you make next land in the draft only, and nothing goes live until you publish again. You can publish up to 10 versions an hour, private ones included.

Who sees what

Other people see a project once it has a default version, at qollab.xyz/u/<your-username>/<project>. They land on the default version and can switch to any other public version. Private versions and the draft are visible to you alone.

Managing versions

Your versions are listed under Project Versions in the sidebar. From there you can:

• Set as default, to change the version visitors land on;
• Make public or Make private;
• Delete version.

Making the default version private takes the project off the site. Without a default version, the project and all its versions, public ones included, are visible to you alone until you set a default again.

Delete a project

Delete is in the ⋯ menu in the project header, and removes the project for good.
